Course Description: This workshop will introduce recent wisdoms and learning drawn from “Authentic Process Therapy” (APT) and other therapies illuminating the frontiers of recovery psychotherapy. Defined as a multi-staged therapeutic modality for recovering emotional, psychological, cultural, spiritual and sexual wholeness, APT has allowed a glimpse of “what’s working in real time” and uncovers the possibility for deeper healing and growth. The histories of both psychotherapy and recovery will demonstrate the birth of APT, its basic components and how it and other energetic new therapies are shifting the existing paradigms in addictions treatment. New & timely resources will also be provided & explored.

Instructors Name: Michael Picucci, PhD, CASAC, MAC

Instructors Qualifications: Michael Picucci has a doctorate in The Psychology of Addictions Psychotherapy and does teaching, private practice consulting and supervision in NYC. He is the author of The Journey Toward Complete Recovery: Reclaiming Your Emotional, Spiritual & Sexual Wholeness and cofounder of The Institute for Staged Recovery. Michael also serves on NAADAC's Clinical Issues Committee.

Educational Objectives:

  1. To understand how research experience lead to the creation of Authentic Process Therapy as a bold new vision of psychotherapeutic healing for recovering people.
  2. To learn the “Four Powers” of Authentic Process Therapy
  3. To see and experience a new Staged Model of addictions recovery that assists in the reclaiming of one’s emotional, spiritual & sexual wholeness.
  4. To share a community healing experience on the most sensitive and central tenets of APT.
  5. Learn how to bring this healing and other aspects of APT back to each participants home territory and helping practice.
  6. To experience a new, holistic addictions recovery perspective that is transformative.
Course Outline/Format: Facilitator will create an experiential community healing environment in which these new models will be shared. There will be group sharing and exercises to help understand the models in a most pragmatic manner.
