The mystery of love-infused sex must be personally experienced to be fully understood. As we allow our souls to fall further in love with our core sexuality and as we fuse these energies, sex becomes a powerful alchemical experience of physical pleasure, emotional connection, and inner growth. This retreat offers a glimpse of an inner experience of the mystery of love-infused sex. This glimpse can provide insights into what we are missing in our search for fulfilling relationships, and such insights can reduce our restlessness and dissatisfaction and increase energy in our lives.
Do these thoughts sound familiar to you? “I feel mysteriously “blocked” or “blinded” from forming an intimate sexual relationship with another man,” or “I am (or have been) in relationship, but I’ve never been able to keep sex juicy and alive with a long-term, committed partner.” These and similar comments reflect an internalized cultural toxin referred to as the sex-love or sexual-spiritual split. In this culture, there is a schism between our sexuality and our spirituality. These frustrating conflicts are resolvable, but until we say, “Yes, I am willing to look at that division,” there’s little chance of feeling completely whole.
Growing up different in any culture generates pain. When we shed our everyday masks of composure, something very special happens. The healing power of being able to let parts of ourselves come out, come together, and be integrated is crucial, but it can’t happen without the safety of a healing community environment. Community is magical. In this workshop, we’ll accelerate our healing, as if emerging out of a deep psychic prison. Through story telling, sharing, gentle touch, music, imagery, and experiential exercises, we’ll create a safe and sacred setting in which our perceptions of intimacy, pleasure, spirituality, sensuality, and sexual drive will be de-mystified. Together, we’ll discover there’s nothing wrong with us. Having clearly named and rightfully located the problem, we’ll receive powerful and concrete tools for negotiating our own healing solutions. The gifts will spill over and empower other areas of our lives. As we learn to get our own intimate needs met, we’ll become natural, grounded change-masters for a better world.
Michael Picucci, a psychotherapist and teacher is cofounder of The Institute for Staged Recovery in NYC, and author of The Journey Toward Complete Recovery: Reclaiming Your Emotional, Spiritual & Sexual Wholeness. His healing work is drawn from many years of expertise in psychotherapy and his own personal challenges with coming out, addiction, cancer, HIV, open heart surgery, and healing his own sexual-spiritual split. Dr. Picucci has been researching and facilitating healing workshops on the schism in our sexual and spiritual energies for more than twenty years.
