The Institute for Staged Recovery

The Institute for Staged Recovery conducts community healing workshops that experientially lead participants into and through the living map as described in Michael Picucci’s book, The Journey Toward Complete Recovery.

We also offer a training program for professionals and others who want to be facilitators of APT and/or be able to articulate the process for themselves and others.

Sex, Spirit & Intimacy Retreat
Transforming Ourselves & Society

March 15-17, 2002
Wisdom House, Litchfield, CT

Sexuality holds great possibilities for personal and spiritual growth. Sexuality also affords the opportunity and possibilities to generate and feel genuine intimacy. By bringing awareness and understanding to our usual masks and defenses we are better able to meet the Core Spirit in you and me. This is true intimacy. Thus, our sexual passion is a glimpse of our longing for this merging. The goal of this retreat is to awaken and cultivate this sexual energy so it can carry us into ecstatic experiences of this cosmic embrace while healing all aspects of our lives.

October Retreat Actuating an Inborn Longing for Living the Future

October 4-6, 2002
Wisdom House, Litchfield, CT

We are all reinventing ourselves. The times we live in demand it. It is a personal and cultural struggle to create meaningful transformation in our work, physicality, spirit, and sexuality. We are people from all walks of life knowing there is "something more" to what we call living. This retreat is about making our reinvention processes more graceful, more conscious, and inviting in others to "resource" our process. We will do so by grasping our soul's desire for love and freedom.

Fusing Sexual & Spiritual Energies

The mystery of love-infused sex must be personally experienced to be fully understood. As we allow our souls to fall further in love with our core sexuality and as we fuse these energies, sex becomes a powerful alchemical experience of physical pleasure, emotional connection, and inner growth. This retreat offers a glimpse of an inner experience of the mystery of love-infused sex. This glimpse can provide insights into what we are missing in our search for fulfilling relationships, and such insights can reduce our restlessness and dissatisfaction and increase energy in our lives.

Getting Where You Want to Go!
formerly known as The Complex Roadmap to Fulfilling Intimate Relationships in Stage Two Recovery

This advanced psychotherapeutic healing workshop will be facilitated by Michael Picucci and Barry Walker on alternating weeks. Michael will lead in the healing dynamics of community, centering the individual and group journey in the healing experience of conscious loving. He will offer his own growing wisdom, skills and experiences for reclaiming our emotional, spiritual and sexual wholeness. We will respectfully integrate aspects of ourselves in pursuit of life fulfillment. This intention anchors each of us on our journey in a way that we can call (and experience as) home. And, from that home we will continue to expand life’s possibilities.

Growing Out of Childhood Abuse

One of the most important discoveries for adults who experienced childhood sexual, emotional, or physical abuse is that they are no longer the abused child. Adulthood confers opportunities for emotional and spiritual growth which were not available during childhood. It is often painful and difficult to see this truth — that as adults we can now genuinely protect and nurture ourselves in new ways as well as be nurtured by others.

Healing Sexual Addiction: From Compulsion to Celebration

Sex can be the way we make the most intimate contact with others — a wonderful celebration of life. If you absorbed the culture’s, or your own history’s, sexual shame and had inadequate or destructive models for sexual development, sex can take on many other functions: a coping mechanism, an escape, a mood adjustor, an identity, a covert way to fulfill unmet childhood needs, etc.

This group is designed to facilitate the incorporation of sex as a healthy, working part of life. You will join in a healing community with others who also bring a significant level of intention to create experiences.

A group will be forming this fall at The Institute for participants who are willing to explore their sexual behavior with understanding, compassion and without judgment (participation in a sexual recovery program is not required). The Institute’s focus is recovery of Self: recovery of emotional, spiritual and sexual wholeness. Our programs are for anyone seeking a path of personal growth and healing.
